A long time ago (10 years next month to be exact) I went on a safari to Africa organized by the Financial Times. This was a first class effort guided by Iain Douglas-Hamilton and his wife Oria, both of "Save the Elephants" fame (http://www.save-the-elephants.org/) and I thoroughly recommend such a top of the line safari. Going to Africa is a pretty big thing for most of us anyway so it makes sense to pay that little bit extra and get expert guidance rather than paying less and getting little or no guidance. Trust me you really won't see many animals unless they are pointed out to you or the guide knows where to go and wandering around the place not seeing animals is tedious in the extreme.

Inu is Japanee for Dog. Either you are like me and find something amusing about having a cat called dog or you decide I'm seriously deranged. We got him when we lived in suburban Northern Califormia, but he settled down to life in slighty more rural France in days.

My wife is a keen photographer and far better at it that I am. I quite like taking pictures of her taking pictures....

She had an exhibition of her work in Kobe, Japan in June whcih was a great success and you can see some of here work on her webpage linked at the left.

Yes - presumably you are the Penny Reeves also once of CUCC? Wed 30-Jul-2003 11:20

That is correct. Looked at your CV and thought it pretty unlikely that there were two CompScis called Francis Turner in Cambridge at the same time. Love your house, BTW. Wed 30-Jul-2003 13:54

So ahh I have to ask. How did you manage to stumble on this page? Do you have fotopage?

We just got a new scanner that can do slides so I ma shortly be able to scan in ancient photos from CUCC expeditions half a life time ago

We live about 10km inland from Cannes in a heavily restored farmhouse that is at least 200 years old surrounded by olive trees, fruit trees, cacti and flowers. The back garden (west facing) often gets amazing sunsets while (as you might expect) the east facing front garden gets beautiful morning sunrises.

Your place is beautiful. A great place to escape to. We spent last year living in a restored stone village house near Fontainebleau and loved every minute of it. Sat 26-Jul-2003 19:13
